The wood for our natural and beautiful produce comes from the semi deciduous Leadwood tree native to Africa |

The tree is found ranging from the Southern KwaZulu-Natal
province of South Africa to the most northerly
point of Tanzania and is in fact a protected species.
A common thought is “why farm a protected tree? ”
an understandable question, however only a few master craftsmen
are allowed to use the wood and have strict rules to follow. |

These rules state they can only use the wood from specially selected trees which are chosen by relevant
authorities, which ensures that the tree survives in the wild and its natural environment, an issue of high importance to us at Mapri. |
Farmed in traditional methods with an emphasis on conservation and the compulsory replanting of
cultivated trees, this magnificent natural wonder grows up to twenty metres in height and has a wide-spreading umbrella
shaped crown and a singular long, thick stem.
The wood farmed from the tree is very hard wearing, has a
natural resistance to both the climate and insects and is difficult to work. |

However as the wood working process is crafted by expert technicians in traditional styles your furniture will be truly stunning and will last for many years and dramatically enhance your home. |

For further enhancement and to ensure the quality of your chosen product, in conjunction with traditional
methods each of our designs are treated with polyurethane which makes them waterproof, heat impervious and extremely
durable in that they can be utilised in virtually any part of your home or office.
Due to the true uniqueness of the Leadwood and the way it is worked,
no two products will be identical and can be designed exclusively for you. |

As a result there is no fixed price list and all costs can be provided and calculated upon application
and is of course dependant upon your dream. Mapri are happy to provide
a design and measuring service and if required a home visit to assist you in your dream. |
